Mr. Rivera-Ortiz graduated from Law School (University of Florida) in 1983, and was admitted to the Bar that same year. He has been practicing labor and employment law for over 21 years. He
has worked as an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board, a
Federal Agency that enforces and administers the National Labor Relations
Act (NLRA), the Federal law that regulates management and union relationships.
As an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board, he investigated
allegations of law violations by employers and unions. Additionally,
he prosecuted employers and unions when it was found that they had
violated the NLRA regulations. On April 1993, he opened his own offices, The Law Offices of Andres Rivera-Ortiz, P.A., where he has practiced since, representing workers in labor and employment matters. Mr. Rivera-Ortiz is admitted to practice in all state courts in the State of Florida and in the federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He can also practice in other federal courts across the United States. Mr. Rivera-Ortiz has handled cases in state and federal trial and appeal courts and in state and federal administrative agencies. He has also represented employees in lawsuits filed alleging violations of various federal laws such as the Polygraph Law (Employee Polygraph Protection Act- EEPA), the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the American with Disabilities Act, and the National Labor Relations Act, among others.
